I have said time and time again - there is nothing better than creating something with your own two hands. In a world where life is moving at super sonic speed, where we want instant gratification, where we live with our phones attached to our hands (hi, me!), the act of sitting down with a crochet project or a card making kit forces us to put all of that nonsense into a time-out.
For me, the crafty spark hit when I was in Gr.8. I remember sitting at a sewing machine and making a small tote bag for one of our class projects. I had never used a sewing machine before so when it all came together and looked like an actual tote bag (lol), I felt something light up inside. I felt pride that I actually made something with my own two hands.
Fast forward to about 7 years ago, I was introduced to a pile of card stock to make handmade greeting cards and that sparked the idea of starting a handmade business. I wanted to create a community where everyone from the beginners to the seasoned crafters were given a reason to step away from the noise of the outside world. I wanted to give people an opportunity to try something new, learn how to crochet, fall in love with fabric and to feel "that feeling" of giving someone a gift that you made.
Has it been easy? Definitely not! When I started, I had no idea what I was doing. I didn't know anything about marketing my business, optimizing my listings to be found, and I had a made up a very simple spreadsheet to keep track of income/expenses. I just want to make cute things and then ship them out as they were purchased. I quickly learned that designing the cute things is about 10% of your business, the other 95% are the being the scenes work that nobody warned me about. Toss in the rotten days where you get inside your own head and question why are you even doing this. However, the good days heavily outweigh the rotten ones.
My goal is to take over the world with one kit, one card and one ball of yarn at a time. Life is infinitely better that way! Xx

With all the noise that surrounds us, it's easy to get pulled in. Especially with the news of the world bringing us down. That's why it's important to take a night here and there to shut everything down, and push aside that pesky voice that sometimes gets in the way with "I should be doing XYZ". This is your time to sink into a big comfy chair, sip on that cup of tea and work on your craft project. If you feel peaceful, then stay there for as long as you need. You deserve this time!
Think back to a handmade gift you’ve received. Chances are, you still have it tucked away somewhere, or maybe even still use it. Every stitch in a quilt, every loop in a crochet pattern, and every carefully placed detail in a handcrafted card tells a story.
There’s nothing better than rounding up your best people, pouring some wine (or tea, if that’s more your vibe), and diving into a pile of craft kits together. Life gets crazy! Between work, family, and a hectic to-do list, it’s hard to find time to catch up. That’s why a girls' night in, filled with crafty bits, belly laughs, and good conversation is the perfect way to hit pause on that crazy life.
